Zaria Survives Wren Sinclair To Retain NXT Title Amid Wild Disruption

Zaria remains the WWE NXT Women’s North American Champion after overcoming Wren Sinclair on the Aug. 11 episode of NXT.

However, the title match didn’t unfold without controversy, as chaos outside the ring played a key role before the champion sealed the victory.

Sinclair entered the contest with momentum after taking Zaria to a time-limit draw in a Speed Championship match the previous week.

She also came into the title bout after enduring an earlier beatdown on the same episode, making her championship opportunity an uphill battle before the opening bell even rang.

Knowing she couldn’t match Zaria’s power, Sinclair came out aggressively and looked for quick roll-ups in the opening moments. The champion responded by slowing the pace with her strength, including a hanging sleeper from the top turnbuckle before Sinclair escaped by targeting Zaria’s arm.

The challenger found another gear after the commercial break. Sinclair connected with a diving crossbody, a butterfly suplex and several hard-hitting strikes, while also countering Zaria’s attempted F-5 into her Divorce Court submission. For a moment, it looked like the title might be slipping away from the champion.

Zaria battled back with a spear, but before either competitor could fully capitalize, the match took an unexpected turn. Saquon Shugars and Dion Lennox brawled from the entrance area, with Cutler James and Osiris Griffin joining the fray. The fight spilled through ringside, creating enough of a distraction to throw the championship contest off balance.

Sinclair managed to knock Cutler James off the apron with a chair, but the brief distraction proved costly. Zaria immediately capitalized, planting Sinclair with an F-5 to score the pinfall and retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship.

The victory keeps Zaria’s title reign intact, but Sinclair once again proved she can push the champion to her limits. After another competitive encounter, this rivalry may not have reached its final bell just yet.
