- Will Ferrell teases it's "awful" being a Los Angeles ambassador for the World Cup.
- The comedian teased that he's actually doing a ton of work both on and off the field.
- “I’m having to wash the uniforms,” he quipped.
Will Ferrell is taking his role as a FIFA World Cup ambassador very seriously.
During a recent visit to *Jimmy Kimmel Live*, the actor and comedian was asked what it’s like to be one of the Los Angeles community ambassadors for the soccer tournament alongside Magic Johnson, Snoop Dogg, Mia Hamm, and Eva Longoria. And, honestly…
“It’s awful,” Ferrell joked. “I thought it was gonna be great. I gotta mow the field. I don’t even get a riding mower. I have a manual push mower and it’s like painting the Golden Gate Bridge: once I start on one side, I gotta start on the other. I’m just there all the time.”

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The former *Saturday Night Live *star said that he’s also working his way through “tons of paperwork,” adding, “I’m processing, it’s like HR complaints, all this passport stuff, that’s on me.”
Ferrell’s role also includes providing food and making sure the athletes are taken care of during their stay. “I’m having to wash the uniforms,” he quipped. “In fact, I got a duffle bag full of the New Zealand guys’ jock straps and… Very hairy men, the Kiwis. A thatch of pubic hair down there that you would not…”

When groans erupted from the audience at his comment, Ferrell fired back, “What! Relax! Come on! We got Kiwis in the crowd, they know!”
It’s been… a bit of an adjustment for Ferrell. “I thought it was gonna be just a really cool gig,” he said. “Nuh uh.”

To make matters worse, the *Elf* actor said he hasn’t been able to attend any matches, either. “No, they won’t let me!” he exclaimed. “I have too much work to do. I gotta do night patrol. I gotta operate a drone.”
“Next time it comes around, maybe you just pass when they just ask you to be ambassador,” host Jimmy Kimmel said through his laughter. To which Ferrell simply replied, “No, I’m too dedicated.”
Ferrell, a known soccer fan, is actually a co-owner of the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and frequently goes to matches to show his support for the team. He has also attended other World Cups in the past, and famously volunteered in 2014 to “bite every German player” during their match against the United States men's national soccer team.
The joke was, of course, a reference to Uruguayan player Luis Suarez biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during a tournament game. Suarez was subsequently banned from football for four months after the incident.
