Which team will exceed expectations next season – the Boston Celtics or Los Angeles Lakers? Both of these two historic rivals are projected to be good but not great ball clubs ahead of the start of the 2026-27 NBA regular season. As the Lakers and Celtic retool and transition into new eras (post- Jaylen Brown for Boston and post- LeBron James for Los Angeles), there is a chance that one of them considerably outplays the fringe contender status each of these teams currently has in the eyes of the NBA media.
