Sandra Smith made a sharp comparison between Donald Trump and singer Taylor Swift after the president sneaked off a plane in a catering truck to transfer to another plane.
As the hosts of Fox News’ The Five discussed the President’s recent talk about the sneaky move, where he departed Air Force One via catering truck as a part of his journey back to Washington, D.C. after a NATO summit in Turkey. He used the truck to move to a C-32A plane, which is smaller than Air Force One, before he later boarded the new, Qatar-gifted Air Force One. This transfer came after the United States identified a credible missile threat from Iran.
“It reminds me a little of Taylor Swift in the middle of the Eras tour when she was going to the Chiefs game. Do you remember when they were sneaking her out in the popcorn cart? Twice!” said Smith. This comes after the singer, 36, removed an audio of her song “August” from President Trump’s TikTok account.

The other hosts of the Five questioned if Smith’s reference was to an actual event, to which she said it was “very real.” A September 2023 article from the New York Post details the Swifties’ theory that Swift exited the Kansas City Chiefs’ suite at Arrowhead Stadium via a popcorn cart.

A video of a large popcorn cart – Swift is 5’10” – circulated around the internet, with sleuths believing that this was a means of transporting the popstar. Some fans countered the claim that Swift was traveling in a concessions vessel, remarking that she was confirmed to have been spotted leaving the stadium with her now-husband, Chiefs' player Travis Kelce.

Before the mystery surrounding her potential use of a popcorn cart as a mode of transit, Swift was caught being taken backstage at an Eras Tour show via a janitor’s cart in April 2023. This move fueled the fiery rumor that she had been using alternative methods to exit crowded, fan-filled spots.
Trump, meanwhile, was not avoiding fans, but rather a threat from Iran. The plane-switching stunt from the President prompted backlash online from some users. Many questioned why he would abandon staffers and reporters on board Air Force One as the plane faced a missile-related threat.
“Who flew on the plane they thought would get blown up?” posted one user to X. Another netizen replied, writing, “He left reporters and staff on the plane he snuck out of. Left them there. Bait.”
Several White House staffers and journalists on the scene stated that they did not know that Trump was moved to a new plane by a catering truck.
