Actor Anson Mount is officially saying goodbye to the Paramount+ series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which premiered in 2022.
On December 19, Mount, who stars as Captain Christopher Pike, shared several behind-the-scenes videos taken on the set of the show's fifth and final season on Instagram. The last clip showed Mount waving goodbye.
Several fans flocked to the post's comments section to share that they were emotional about Star Trek: SNW coming to an end.
"This actually brought tears to my eyes, especially the end wave. I’d miss those sets (and all the memories made on them) too. Congratulations on wrapping the final season and sincere thanks for all the work you’ve put into the entire series. I’m looking forward to seeing the last two seasons when they release," wrote a commenter.
"Oh god, why did you make me cry. This was epic, Captain. I’ll miss you. And the crew," added another.
"you’re gonna make me cry.. why is this amazing showing ending… I’ll miss this cast.. so much," shared a different person.
"Thank you for the incredible work you and the cast and crew put into making such a wonderful series for us. We appreciate you! Oh Captain, my Captain!" commented a social media user.
"'m not crying, you're crying. Can't believe its ending so soon. This series brought so much Fun, Joy, happiness and Joy in my life. Thank you so much for all of it!" wrote a fan.

Anson Mount Discussed His Character's Iconic Look in 2023
Mount began playing Captain Pike during the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, which premiered in 2019. The character was originated by Jeffrey Hunter in the 1960s series, Star Trek: The Original Series, which had a three-season run.
Besides Pike's excellent leadership and bravery, the character is known for his voluminous hair. During a 2023 interview with Paramount+'s "Ready Room," Mount discussed fans' enthusiastic reaction to his hair. He said that he "never really thought of [himself] as having particularly admired hair."
In addition, the actor credited the show's hair department for making him "look good."
"I, personally, I roll onto the lot and into the hair trailer and they do their thing and I go to work," said Pike during the 2023 interview.
He clarified that he thinks "it's kind of cool that [Pike's hair has] become a thing."
The fourth season of Star Trek: SNW will air in 2026.
