Prince Harry's former girlfriend has revealed why she never married the Duke while opening up about how their romance concluded. Chelsy Davy ended her relationship with Prince Harry, deciding that royal life wasn't suited for her.
Chelsy, 40, was in a relationship with Prince Harry for approximately seven years before their final split in 2011, years before he met his now wife Meghan Markle. The jewelry designer, now a married mother of three, has confessed that despite the lengthy and apparently serious nature of her romance with Harry, she spent her twenties and thirties "only committed to having fun."
"Looking back... commitment wasn't exactly my strong suit," Chelsy wrote on her Aya jewelry website this week. "I wanted the next trip, the next adventure, the next group of people I hadn't met yet. I lived in Istanbul. I traveled around South America. I went to Bali, the Amazon, Moscow."

She continues: "I wasn't remotely interested in staying in one place, following a conventional career path or committing to anything that might interfere with whatever sounded most exciting."
In his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry revealed that while he was captivated by Chelsy's personality, he harbored concerns about how his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth, might perceive her, reports the Express.

He wrote: "She wore short skirts and high boots, danced with abandon, drank as much tequila as I did, and I cherished all those things about her... but I couldn't help worrying how Granny might feel about them. Or the British public. And the last thing I wanted was for Chels to change to accommodate them."
The prince further noted: "Unlike so many people I knew, she seemed wholly unconcerned with appearances, with propriety, with royalty. Unlike so many girls I met, she wasn't visibly fitting herself for a crown the moment she shook my hand. She seemed immune to that common affliction sometimes called throne syndrome."
During the 2020 lockdown, Chelsy encountered her future husband, Sam Cutmore-Scott, and recognized she was ready to settle down, but only "specifically with him." Despite their romantic split, Chelsy and Harry maintained an amicable relationship, with Chelsy even attending Prince Harry's wedding to Markle.
Now, Meghan and Harry have two children, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five. The duo recently returned to the UK after six years in California, reportedly settling in the Cotswolds.
Despite their return, they have yet to reunite with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William. Harry and Meghan reportedly have scheduled a private appointment with Charles. A source also emphasized to Rob Shuter on the Naughty But Nice Substack that the significance of the reunion and that "Charles is making room for his son again."
