A source close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said that they will not apologize to Prince William and Kate Middleton for their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, despite reports.
The insider said the assertion is “nonsense.”
The response comes one day after a U.K. outlet reported that Harry and Meghan “are planning to express their regrets to the royal family” over a comment Meghan made during the interview.
Despite earlier reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be apologizing to Prince William and Kate Middleton for comments made during their explosive 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview.

On October 7, a source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told People that the assertion is “nonsense.”
The response comes one day after the U.K. outlet Express reported that Harry and Meghan “are planning to express their regrets to the royal family” over a comment Meghan made during the interview, when she remarked that a royal family member expressed concern over how dark their son Prince Archie’s skin color would be.
A source told Express that Harry and Meghan “regret” sitting down with Oprah.

“Harry and Meghan have always known since they decided to return to the U.K. that they would need to eat humble pie,” the insider said. “Their one big regret about leaving the royal family for the U.S. was their interview with Oprah, and Meghan knows her biggest mistake was her claim that a royal family member had discussed Archie’s skin color.”
The source continued, “Harry was angry with his family at the time, and backed Meghan up, but they now realize what a low blow it was. They both know they’re hot-headed and realize they took things too far.”
This purported apology news comes one month after a source close to William and Kate told Peoplethat they are avoiding a “knee-jerk reaction” to Harry and Meghan’s unexpected move back to the U.K., adding, “They are watching this space. It’s private—they don’t feel the need to say anything or demonstrate anything outwardly.”

Although a previous source said Harry’s move back home gives him the “best opportunity” to reconnect with his brother, William and Kate’s reported insider said that any hopes for reparation “will be a slow build” as “there is a deep sense of betrayal.”
