Norman Reedus posted photos from the final day of filming on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
He is promising a "special" fourth and final season.
This could be the final time that Reedus plays the character.
Norman Reedus has reached the end of his walk.
For 16 years, Reedus has starred as the lovably gruff tracker Daryl Dixon, beginning in The Walking Dead and continuing into his own spinoff series. On Tuesday, the actor posted photos from his final day of filming on Daryl Dixon, which very might be his last time playing the character.
"Finally going through these photos to check off from the last episode," he wrote on Instagram.
"I can't wait for people to see this show. The crew best I've ever worked with the feeling of accomplishment when it was over was just amazing. Such hard work and I so much hart put into this I think you're gonna feel it. It was a special season. I can't wait for you to see it. It hits just way different this time," Reedus wrote.
Among the images were an emotional goodbye alongside his longtime costar Melissa McBride.
Daryl wasn't a character in Robert Kirkman's original comic and was specifically created for the Walking Dead show. Upon Daryl's debut in season 1, he was a supporting figure, but Reedus quickly turned him into a fan favorite that was worthy of emerging as a co-protagonist and eventual lead of his own series.

Premiering in 2023, Daryl Dixon followed Daryl across the Atlantic Ocean as he washes ashore in France, unsure how he got there. It was originally intended to be a Daryl and Carol (McBride) spinoff, but the European setting was a logistical issue for McBride, and so it became Daryl-centric. McBride later came on board in season 2.

In the season 3 finale, it looked like Daryl and Carol were about to finally head home to the States, only for their boat to catch fire and explode.
"I think where his head is at is, 'God, I was so f---ing close, man. I was so close to getting on the water and getting moving again,'" Reedus told Entertainment Weekly in 2024.
"He's got to f---ing sit still again, and he's got to try again," he said. "But he goes from first gear to fourth gear all the time, and everything in between is like is a putt… putt… putt. So he's trying to figure this out again. But I think his hopes were really high. I felt like he got to the point where he convinced everybody — 'This is it!'"
There is not yet a premiere date for the fourth and final season of Daryl Dixon.
