The mother of a Russian lab technican who died in a suspected outbreak of the plague - dubbed 'Black Death' - accused officials of "letting my daughter die."

Svetlana Shipilova denied reports that her daughter Daria Shipilova, 28, was infected after breaking a test tube while working at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute of Siberia.

Officials say she died on Oct. 2, while reports indicate that she dropped a test tube containing the plague. Svetlana Shipilova, a medical professional, told Russian outlet Glubina that she didn't believe the official report, saying it is impossible to break a test tube.

Furious Russia hits back at Trump's offer of support to deal with 'outbreak'

Argument between two Russian officials tipped off experts about 'plague outbreak'

"I know the truth," she said. "I'm having to fend off stupid acquaintances who believed all this - the clever ones didn't believe it, of course."

"They simply let me daughter die"

"Not even all medical professionals understand it's impossible to break a test tube like that," she continued. "Even if you fling it at the wall. Only an amateur could say something like that."

"Even hypothetically, you simply can't spill what's inside or break the tube. They're that well protected," she added. "They simply let my daughter die."

Hundreds who had come into contact with Shipilova have been placed under quarantine. Moscow only recently confirmed that she died of "pneumonia of unknown origin." Experts worry that the strain of plague she could have been infected with was modified as a bioweapon.

"If she was working in a plague lab and had an accident, there would have been a protocol for her to go on antibiotics," Former CDC Director Robert Redfield told NewsNation on Tuesday.

"Now, if the plague that she was working with had been manipulated to not be sensitive to antibiotics ... that would explain why maybe they didn't work."
