Mia Goth is requesting sole physical and legal custody of her and Shia LaBeouf’s 4-year-old daughter.
In a petition for the dissolution of marriage obtained by PEOPLE, the British actress, 32, asked the court for sole physical and legal custody of her and The Tax Collector actor’s daughter Isabel, 4. Goth, who filed in Los Angeles County on Tuesday, Oct. 6, also requested that visitation be granted to LaBeouf.
The two stars have been together on and off since 2012 and welcomed their daughter together in 2022. Citing “irreconcilable differences,” Goth listed their date of separation as July 28, 2025, in the documents.

Since welcoming their daughter, the pair have spoken publicly about parenthood.
“It feels like some kind of weird reset button,” LaBeouf said on the Real Ones podcast in August 2022 shortly after becoming a dad. “I know that I’m never going to be the dude that I was in front of [my daughter]. It’s almost like having the ultimate parole officer. I need somebody to keep me accountable.”
In October 2025, Goth spoke with Elle, calling motherhood a “psychedelic experience.”
“You’re parenting her, but you’re also parenting the version of you that existed when you were that age,” she explained. “The amount of love that you can feel ... she’s the greatest gift of my life.”

Goth and LaBeouf’s relationship “has always been complicated,” a source told PEOPLE in February when news of their separation broke. “They weren’t getting along and had a lot of drama last year.”
The Odyssey actress “encouraged” LaBeouf to move out, the insider added. “She loves him, but she also doesn’t need him. She’s very independent. She has her own life, her own career and her priority is their daughter.”

The pair first met while filming Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012 and wed in a Las Vegas ceremony in 2016, although officials confirmed that they were not legally married. LaBeouf and Goth then announced their divorce in 2018, but were spotted in 2020 wearing wedding rings.
LaBeouf moved from the Los Angeles home he shared with Goth to New Orleans following their split. There, the Honey Boy writer-star was arrested and faced two counts of simple battery after an alleged altercation at a bar on Feb. 17 during Mardi Gras celebrations.
On Feb. 18, LaBeouf was spotted on Bourbon Street dancing with jail release paperwork in his mouth. He later wrote “Free me,” on his X account.
This June, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery charges in connection with the incident. The Transformers star received a sentence of two years’ probation, alcohol abuse rehabilitation, sensitivity training and anger management classes.
