There’s no shortage of family drama on Running Point.

The Netflix comedy, which is inspired by Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, follows Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) as she takes over running the family business: the fictional Los Angeles Waves basketball team. After the oldest Gordon sibling, Cam (Justin Theroux), is forced to step down following a public scandal, he names Isla president of the Waves in an unlikely move — choosing her over their brothers Ness (Scott MacArthur), the team’s general manager, and Sandy (Drew Tarver), the Waves’ CFO.

The second season of Running Point, which began streaming on Netflix on April 23, promises more drama on the court and in the Gordon family, with Cam back from rehab and ready to reclaim his spot in the family business.

“Look, don't get me wrong, I love a rom-com. I love when it's all about the relationships,” Hudson told PEOPLE of Running Point in February 2025. “But to do a comedy set in such a high-stakes environment that's about family dynamics — to me, [that] is just so much fun.”

In real life, Hudson — who comes from a large Hollywood family of her own — is a mom to two sons and a daughter, the latter of whom she shares with her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa. Meanwhile, Theroux welcomed his first child, a son, just days before the premiere of Running Point season 2 with wife Nicole Brydon Bloom.

Here's everything to know about the real-life kids of the Running Point cast.

Kate Hudson’s 3 Kids

Hudson manages a fictional NBA team on Running Point, portraying Los Angeles Waves team president Isla Gordon. In real life, she’s in charge of a team of three: her children Ryder, Bingham and Rani.

The actress welcomed her first child, son Ryder, with her ex-husband Chris Robinson in January 2004. In July 2011, she gave birth to her second son, Bingham, whom she shares with her former fiancé Matt Bellamy. Hudson grew her family once again in October 2018, when she welcomed her third child, daughter Rani, with Fujikawa.

The Almost Famous actress has been open about her experience co-parenting her three children with their three different fathers.

“It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside I feel like we're killing it," she told The Sunday Times in November 2022 about her family. “The unit that I've created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it's ours.”

In addition to their bond as a blended family, Hudson’s three children all share another common thread among them: Each of their names has a personal family connection.

Ryder’s middle name is Russell, in honor of Goldie Hawn’s partner of more than 40 years and Hudson’s father figure, Kurt Russell. Hudson’s second son is named Bingham Hawn, paying tribute to Russell’s father, Bing Russell, and her famous mother. Rani’s name, meanwhile, is a nod to her fiancé's father, Ron Fujikawa, whom Hudson has described as “the most special man.”

Over the years, her children have given their full support to Hudson's career — particularly Ryder, who accompanied his mother on the red carpet of the 2026 Vanity Fair Oscars party, where she celebrated her nomination for Song Sung Blue.

“I’ve never been more proud of my mother,” Ryder told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. “I have to say, I’ve seen my mom close up more than anybody ... put in more work and more dedication and more time than I’ve ever seen in my life. And it’s just such a beautiful thing.”

Brenda Song’s 2 Kids

In addition to playing the Waves’ chief of staff Ali Lee on Running Point, Brenda Song is a mom of two.

Song shares two sons with her fiancé Macauley Culkin, whom she met in Thailand on the set of the 2017 film Changeland. The couple welcomed son Dakota Song Culkin in April 2021. Less than two years later, they were joined by younger son Carson.

Song and Culkin, who were both child actors themselves, purposefully keep their sons out of the spotlight. “You could take pictures of me all day. I don't care,” Song said about life in the public eye to Bustle in January 2025. “But when it's your kids, it's different. They didn't ask for this life.”

They made a rare exception, however, when Culkin received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December 2023. The entire family, including their two sons, stepped out for the occasion.

"That was such a special moment. We couldn't have them miss that," Song told Bustle about the ceremony.

Theroux portrays eldest Gordon sibling Cam on Running Point, but in real life, he’s embarking on a new adventure — fatherhood! In April 2026, the couple welcomed their first child, a son.

"He’s here 🕊️ we are so in love," the pair captioned their joint Instagram post.

During a subsequent appearance on Today, Theroux raved about becoming a new dad, saying that the experience has been "beautiful."

“It's so much better [than I imagined],” he shared. “Of course, I've been told by other fathers, ‘Wait ‘til you see this child. You're gonna fall in love.' And you still always have that little moment of, ‘Is that really going to happen?' and the minute he appears, your whole life just starts to revolve around this thing, and your heart just opens up in a beautiful way. So I'm really happy, really happy.”

In December 2025, PEOPLE confirmed that he and his wife, Nicole Brydon Bloom, were expecting their first child together. The news came as a surprise to the couple, who said “I do” in March 2025.

“We weren’t entirely planning it, but we were excited to start a family,” Bloom said about the pregnancy in a March 2026 appearance on Today.

Chet Hanks, who plays Waves’ point guard (and part-time rapper) Travis Bugg on Running Point, is a father to one child, a daughter, in real life. Hanks, who is the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, welcomed his daughter, Michaiah, with his ex Tiffany Miles in 2016.

Hanks announced the birth of his daughter on Instagram. “I want to share something today because it’s about to be shared anyway in the press, which is the fact that I have a daughter. I do have a daughter,” he shared in an emotional video. “She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Hanks added that he had initially kept the news a secret to protect his child. “Her privacy is sacred to me,” he explained. “She is sacred to me. She’s not something to be posted.”

Hanks has also credited his daughter with inspiring him to get sober. (The Your Honor actor previously struggled with substance abuse.)

“She’s the reason why I turned my life around and got sober,” he said on Instagram.

While he continues to maintain Michaiah’s privacy, Hanks has spoken about how his daughter has changed his life for the better.

“Fatherhood forces you to grow up really quickly,” he told PEOPLE in May 2018. “It’s a beautiful process, and it’s a blessing to be able to grow yourself as you watch your kids grow.”

On-screen, Max Greenfield brings the character of Lev Levenson — a pediatrician and Isla’s fiancé — to life. Off-screen, he is dad to two kids with his wife, Tess Sanchez.

Greenfield and Sanchez tied the knot in August 2008 and welcomed their first child, daughter Lilly, in January 2010. Then, in August 2015, their son Ozzie was born.

“Having two kids is like having 1,000,” Greenfield told GQ in October 2016. “It makes everything so much harder. I couldn’t be any more [into being a dad]. ... Couldn’t be more done. But so happy with these two idiots.”

When it comes to their priorities as parents, Greenfield and Sanchez have one rule for their kids: “Be kind and have compassion.”

"We are pretty relaxed about everything, except how they treat and talk to other people,” Sanchez told Parents in September 2021. “The only time we ever get mad is if we see the kids being thoughtless.”

Jay Ellis’ 2 Kids

In season 1, Jay Ellis’ Running Point character, Jay Brown, gives up his job as Waves’ head coach in order to be closer to his daughters, who live in Boston. In real life, Ellis is equally dedicated to the two children he shares with his wife Nina Senicar.

After getting engaged in January 2019, Ellis and Senicar welcomed their first child together, daughter Nora Grace, that November. They wed in July 2022, and two years later, their son Noa Gray was born.

Ahead of Noa’s birth, Ellis shared with PEOPLE that he was “terrified” and “excited” about having a second child. But the Top Gun: Maverick actor was also ready to embrace the “chaos.”

“What is life if we're not experiencing chaos and figuring out how to navigate it?” Ellis said. “I get the opportunity to bring another kid into the world and hopefully do something good, do some good, leave them with something good. Hopefully, they get to move through the world with some of the things that I'm able to teach them and do some good themselves.”

Once Noa was born, Ellis revealed that one of the biggest adjustments was managing his daughter Nora’s enthusiasm for her new little brother.

“She loves him a lot," Ellis told PEOPLE at season 1 premiere of Running Point in February 2025. "We got to back her away from him because she just wants to hug him. She wants him to be a teddy bear, basically. That's what we're usually fighting against."

Ray Romano’s 4 Kids

The family of Ray Romano, who plays L.A. Waves' new head coach Norm Stinson in season 2 of Running Point, is nearly big enough for his own starting five!

The Everybody Loves Raymond star shares four children with his wife of more than 30 years, Anna Romano. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Alexandra "Ally," in August 1990, followed by identical twin sons, Matthew and Gregory, in January 1993. Five years later, in February 1998, their fourth and youngest child, son Joseph "Joe," was born.

As Romano’s children are now all adults, his family has continued to grow. Two of his kids are now married — Matthew tied the knot with Erica Jane in April 2024, while Ally said “I do” to Zachary Wilezol in September of that year. In February 2026, Romano became a grandfather for the first time when Ally and Wilezol welcomed their first child, son Rex Roman Wilezol.

In an appearance on Today in February 2026, Romano expressed his excitement over the anticipation of his first grandchild being born.

“We have a little boy coming, and it's our first. And, I hear it's great," he said prior to Rex's birth. “I hear it's the best thing in the world because it's like a parent, [where] you get to play with them, and then when they smell, you give them back."
