Released in 2000, the live-action adaptation of Dr. Seuss' children's book starred Carry as the Christmas-hating Grinch, who aims to sabotage the festive celebration taking place down in Whoville.
*How the Grinch Stole Christmas *went on to become the year's highest-grossing movie domestically, while also winning an Oscar for Best Makeup. And it's a bit of a surprise that Carrey would want to undergo that lengthy process again, considering he previously told EW that it took "two and a half hours" to apply the prosthetics.
"[I] was having a lot of trouble with the Grinch suit, so they brought a guy in who actually teaches people how to handle torture, and he gave me a couple of tips," Carrey said. "You just forget [the pain]. Sitting around in that suit was not too fun, but performing in it was amazing."

A *Grinch* sequel would mark Carrey's first non-*Sonic the Hedgehog** *movie in a decade. Production recently wrapped on *Sonic the Hedgehog 4*, the latest outing for Carrey as the evil Dr. Robotnik. Carrey has talked about retiring from acting, but when discussing his *Sonic 3* return, he declared, "I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money, frankly."
*The Hollywood Reporter* first reported the news of a new *Grinch*.
