Matthew Koma revealed that he told his manager he wanted to "marry" Hilary Duff after they initially met
"We got set up through my A&R person, and we ended up hanging for two hours," the actress and singer told Rolling Stone in a Thursday, Feb. 19 interview
Duff and Koma, who initially met in 2015, have been married since 2019
Matthew Koma knew that being with Hilary Duff would be what dreams are made of the first time they met.
In a Rolling Stone interview published on Thursday, Feb. 19, the "Roommates" singer and the Winnetka Bowling League musician opened up about their initial connection.
Duff, 38, revealed to the publication that she and Koma, 38, were set up through her A&R representative in 2015 and ended up working on her album Breathe In. Breathe Out.
"We ended up hanging for two hours, just talking about music," she told Rolling Stone. "Matt sent an email to his manager afterwards and was like, ‘She’s really pretty.'"
Koma added, "I said, ‘I want to marry her.'"
After meeting in 2015, Duff told Vogue that she and Koma forged "a nice friendship right off the bat."
In early 2017, the duo were linked romantically and dated on and off for several years.
In 2021, Duff told PEOPLE that she and Koma "knew we just had to be together because we tried a bunch of times to be apart, and that didn't work out for either one of us."

The Lizzie McGuire star, who shares son Luca, 13, with her ex-husband, Mike Comrie, welcomed her first child with Koma, daughter Banks Violet, now 7, in 2018.
Duff and Koma later tied the knot in a "small and low-key" wedding in December 2019.
The couple also share daughter Mae James, 4, and Townes Meadow, 1, in May 2024.
Duff is set to release her first new album in 10 years luck...or something, which Koma co-wrote and co-produced.
She will later embark on the Lucky Me World Tour in support of the album, which kicks off on June 22 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
“The name says it all. I truly feel so lucky to be able to be onstage again in front of all of you beautiful people. I can’t wait! See you on the lucky me tour,” she wrote on Instagram alongside the tour dates.
Duff will release luck...or something on Friday, Feb. 20.
