Malevolence dropped an exciting surprise for fans as the Sheffield, U.K. based metallers unveiled a brand-new single.

The quartet has shown no signs of slowing down despite gearing up for the highly anticipated North America Tour.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the band announced the release of the single "Silhouette."

In a post on Instagram, they shared a glimpse of the music video directed by Richard Oakes, who was the man behind some of the music videos for bands TesseracT and Sleep Token.

The video pairs the ballad-like melody of the song with a mysterious cinematic feel, showcasing the band’s dramatic movements in striking silhouettes.

In a separate Instagram post, the band opened up about what inspired them to create different music from their usual style and step out of their comfort zone.

“This song was put together during the WOTTIS writing period several years back, sparking much internal debate whether the ballad quota on the album had already been met, along with concerns that the vibe was nearly a lil bit too wet for a Malev,” the band explained.

After some reflection, they agreed the track was too much of a banger to waste and released it on Valentine’s Day.

“We revisited the song post record release and it was agreed unanimously between us that it was far too much of a banger to rot away gathering dust on our hard drive. We shot a simple video last week and had it turned around rapid for a timely launch on Valentine's weekend,” the caption reads.

Alex Taylor of Malevolence performs during Slam Dunk Festival North 2021 at Temple Newsam Park on September 4, 2021 in Leeds, England.

Adding to the band’s achievement, the newly released single is their first song released independently under their own MLVLTD MUSIC imprint.

On the other hand, Malevolence’s new song sets the stage for a co-headline tour across North America with hardcore metal band Guilt Trip.

The one-month run will kick off on March 31 in Detroit and conclude in Milwaukee on April 23.
